Flexner records what happens on a building site. That involves data about the builder, their trades and their client, including photos of someone's home and voice notes. Below is exactly what we keep, why, and who can see it.

For your own account we are the data controller. For the project content a builder puts into Flexner (photos, voice notes, rooms), that builder is the controller and we are the processor.
Your account. Name, email address, and whether you're a builder or a trade. Without those three you can't sign in and nobody knows who posted an update. Optional: phone number, trade, company name and business address.
What you post. Photos, voice notes, text, and the time. This is the heart of the product: it's exactly what you'll want to find again later.
Your projects. Project name, the address if you fill it in, the rooms, and who takes part.
Notifications. If you turn them on, we keep the key your browser gives us. Otherwise we can't send you anything.
Payment. On a paid plan we keep your Stripe customer number and your subscription status. Your card details never reach us: they go straight to Stripe.
We use no analytics, no advertising trackers and no profiling.
This is the most important paragraph in this document, and it isn't a promise but a setting in the database.
The client sees only what the builder shares. Every update is internal until someone explicitly shares it. That is enforced at database level, not in the app: even a bug in a screen cannot show an internal update to a client.
You share your own contact details. Your crew always sees your phone number and email address. Whether the client sees them is your choice, on your profile. Note that this is on by default.
Photos are not public. They sit in private storage and are only reachable through a link that lasts an hour and is only created for someone allowed to see that photo.
We don't look inside your projects, except when you ask us for help and give permission.
The database and the photos are with Supabase in Ireland, inside the EU. The site runs on Vercel. Payments go through Stripe, email through Resend.
Notifications go via your own browser's push service: Apple, Google or Mozilla. That service sees the title and first line of the notification; not your photos.
As long as your account exists. An archived project is kept. That's the point of an archive.
Delete a room and the updates and photos in it go with it, and that can't be undone. Delete your account and everything attached to you goes.
Statutory retention wins: we keep invoices for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.
Access, correction, deletion, restriction, and a copy of your data in a readable file. Email hello@flexner.app and we'll respond within a month.
If it concerns a builder's project content, we'll pass your request on to them. They decide about it, we only store it.
You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. We'd rather hear it from you first.
Two kinds, both necessary: one that remembers you're signed in, and one that remembers your language. No trackers, no advertising cookies, nothing third-party.
That's why there's no cookie banner on this site. Necessary cookies don't need one, and we have no others.
